There is an undeniable link between sport and … beer kegs. Research shows that it’s not just athletes who drink, and the harder we work, the more we drink. Beer does not dehydrate you
To drink in moderation. Scientists have yet to publish research that beer is the perfect recovery drink, but it will keep you hydrated after exercise. A 2015 study in the Journal of the International Sports Society selected a group of 16 male athletes. Some drank mineral water after heavy training, others – beer and mineral water. There were no significant differences in their hydration level. A 2015 study in the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Metabolism found that light beer with added sodium can help rehydrate after exercise.

Alcohol reduces muscle pain
Beer makes everything more bearable, even the pain in the quads. A 2014 study in the International Journal of Kinesiology and Sports Science found that athletes experience less pain when drinking beer (compared to a placebo) after heavy training.
It protects against kidney stones
Over time, frequent dehydration can lead to kidney stones. But beer helps keep the kidneys clean. A 2013 study published in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Clinical Nephrology found that drinks containing sugar such as soda and juice increased the risk of stone formation. But drinking beer regularly reduces the risk by 41%, while wine only reduces the risk by 31 to 33%.

Beer builds strong bones
